4 Reasons why your plumbing contractor should furnish the fixtures and faucets he installs in your home or building:
Warranty - Plumbing contractors warranty their material and workmanship for a period of time after the installation. However, if your plumber does not furnish the materials used, such as the fixtures and faucets, he obviously CANNOT warranty them. Every fixture or faucet defect would result in a labor charge for the repairs.
Who's responsible? - No matter how extensive quality control is, once in a while there will be a defective product sold. A leaking fixture can cause a great deal of damage. When this happens, who is liable? The purchaser? The supplier? The manufacturer? The plumbing contractor? If the plumbing contractor furnished and installed the product, he would accept full responsibility. If he only installed it, he would not.
Be wise, buy your plumbing fixtures and faucets from your licensed and insured plumbing contractor.
Are you really saving money? - Do you want your plumber to wait while you return a wrong or defective part? A plumbing contractor knows what parts and materials are necessary for the job, PLUS he has the equipment, tools and expertise to do the job correctly. Your contractor can furnish you quality products at a competitive price. He can help you choose from a wide selection of products that fit within your budget.
Delivery - When a consumer purchases direct from a supplier, the plumbing contractor has no control or responsibility in regards to the delivery of these fixtures or faucets. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to be sure these items are delivered when and where they are needed. Standard practice for the suppliers is to furnish 'tailgate delivery.' This means the fixtures will be delivered to the job and set off the back of the truck. It's then the responsibility of the purchaser to distribute the fixtures where they belong.
Be wise and buy from a licensed and insured plumbing contractor!
